“I hate him!”
“Calm down. If you hate him so much, get rid of him.”
The man is shocked. “What if someone found out? It would ruin my record, I would never gain command.”
The woman rolls her eyes. “Not directly. Set him up. If he kills himself, you aren’t to blame for it.”
“Will that work?”
“If you go about it right.”
The man likes this idea. “How would going about it right look like?”
The woman is angry, but hides it well. She has feelings for the man, but if the person he hates dies, then she will never be able to claim his affections. But she is loyal to him, and wants to see him happy. If only he would learn from her. The girl would not be happy with him. Which is why he hates this man so much. “Do you really wish to know?”
The man leans forward, eager. “Yes!”
The woman sighs. “Then I will tell you..”
…..
Zekk jumped down from his ship, eager to see Jaina. It had been months, almost a year, since he had last seen her, and, even though he wasn’t sure she returned his feelings, he meant to find out.
He asked around for her, in the entire base, and eventually tracked her down.
But there was a problem.
She was kissing Jagged Fel, and enjoying it a lot. He felt the love radiating off of her.
Zekk stumbled away, trying not to let the tears fall from his eyes. He hadn’t known he felt so strongly for her.
Zekk wasn’t over Jaina. He loved her. He was miserable.
He couldn’t live without her.
He sat at his desk for hours. If this was to be his goodbye, he wanted it to make her miss him.
Three hours, and twelve sheets of flimsiplast later, he had it. Folding it carefully, he snuck to Jaina’s quarters, and placed it at her door, with a black flower on top.
Then he left silently.
…..
Jaina pushed her hair back out of her face. What in the galaxy had possessed her to kiss Jagged Fel, of all people? The droid replica human! She was in love with Zekk.
He would be back any day now, and she could barely keep herself in her skin, keep herself from wriggling with anticipation.
Her door hissed open, as she started walk out, to see if Zekk had come back yet, and she nearly stepped on the note in front of her door.
A black flower?
Was this from Jag? Because she didn’t want to have anything to do with him. And black flowers? Lousy taste.
However, she was curious to see what was on the flimsiplast. Her skin went hot and then cold when she recognized Zekk’s handwriting.
It’s been a long time
Since I first held you
It’s been a long time
Since I first knew
It seems like it might
Be destiny
That you and I would
Become we.
But the drop of sadness
In the light
Of our love would drown
In the night
That wars, which used to
Bring us together
Would push us apart, and you into
The arms of another
I came from the underlevels
But you never cared
When I first loved you
It was so rare
You were so beautiful
So alive
So kind and gentle
Until he died
You left me then and sought
Someone alone
You found him and left me
Cold as stone
My heart is empty and I
Miss you so much
Life without you isn’t
Life as such
Now I’m forsaken and
Broken in two
I can’t stay and watch
Him love you
It’s such a mystery to me
How you
Can love him, when our love
Was true
I hate to think that
You’re in his arms
When he can’t protect you
From all harm
Like I was
able to
I admit I can’t
Trust you
Dawn rises, spilling light
Would you care if I died
If I were to leave now
Commit suicide
Forever I am
Tormented
Forever I am
Demented
All alone
Forever you see
Because you loved him
Instead of me.
Jaina felt for Zekk in the Force. //Zekk?//
//Go away Jaina. Go be with Jag.//
Jaina followed his signature, up to the rooftops of Coruscant. She saw him with his hands locked behind his head, about to jump.
The sun was rising behind him, silhouetting his body against the sky.
“Zekk!” she shouted. “I love you!”
He turned, in shock. “What?!”
Jagged Fel came out of nowhere, shoving him off of the edge. Jaina would hear his scream for the rest of her life.
She threw herself at Jag, hitting him as hard as she could. “Jag! Why did you do that?! Why?!”
He attempted to grab her wrists, to stop her from hitting him more. “Because. You can’t love him. You’re mine.”
Jaina slapped him. “No way am I yours! Especially not after you just killed the man that I love!”
Jag stared at her.
All of the sudden, someone was standing behind him, cuffing his hands behind his back. “Jagged Fel, you are under arrest for first-degree murder. You have the right to remain silent.”
Jaina turned, to see Shawnkyr right behind her. “I knew he was going to kill Zekk. I couldn’t let him.”
Jaina turned back, to see where Zekk had fallen. “I just wish you had been in time.”
Now Zekk was gone forever.
…..
Twenty-four hours later…
Jaina stood in the exact spot Zekk had stood in. Her hands were locked behind her head. The sun was rising. She had placed her final goodbye in front of her parents door, with a black flower set atop.
Zekk’s body had been found, near the last level. His neck had broken upon impact. He had died instantly.
Jaina would follow him.
Suddenly, she heard a noise behind her. Zekk’s ghost stood there. He had tears on his face. ’Jaina.’ he seemed to say, ’I love you.’
She felt arms on her back, and as she fell, saw Shawnkyr’s face behind her.
Jaina’s last scream echoed to the underlevels.
“Calm down. If you hate him so much, get rid of him.”
